Scrolling Document

Perhaps you are presenting information about a long list, a document, or some other data, and you want to give the viewer an overview or sense of the size of the data. Here is the sample video, less than 30 seconds in length.  This technique builds on my earlier Better Scrolling post.

This technique will fade in a document, then scroll the document below a static header, with the background remaining intact. A key point in this technique is that in Camtasia, things that are on a higher track in the timeline obsure things that are on a lower track. 

You can build the panoramic image of your document or data using TechSmith SnagIt with the Panoramic Scrolling Capture feature. The pano can be captured in a browser, an MS Word or Excel document, or some other application that can scroll your information. 

Also, remember to Enable Canvas Snapping in the View menu, as this makes this technique much easier to build. I am providing the TechSmith Camtasia zipped project file (Camtasia 2024) here, so that you can see how this is built.  Have fun and let me know if you have questions!
