A little twitchy

I am guessing I am not the only one whose hand gets a just a little tight and shaky when you click the "Record" button for a screen recording. It wouldn't be so bad, except that the screen recording captures every little wobble or twitch.

Well, if you are like that - or maybe you just want your cursor to track smoothly in your videos - there is good news! Camtasia has a great feature called Cursor Smoothing. In this first image, you will see it in the Cursor Effects group, highlighted in green. Just drag the Cursor Smoothing effect to your screen recording on the timeline.

As with all effects, there are properties that you can adjust and experiment with, as shown in this second image. One thing I have noticed is that cursor smoothing introduces a little lag. This may cause visual oddities, such as objects appearing to change state before the cursor is over them, or a lag in drop-down menus. To get around that, open the effects tray for the clip as shown in the third image  (1), and click and drag the Cursor Smoothing effect (2) so that it is not active when the object states or drop-down menus are affected. Your finished video will look like you have the steadiest hands in the business!
